Who We Are

Pyrford Little Theatre is an enthusiastic group of amateur actors in North Surrey.
In 1956, as Pyrford grew in size, a group known as Pyrford Young Wives decided to put on a play. As enthusiasm for drama grew, it became clear that the casting of future productions would be easier with the inclusion of male members. Pyrford Young Wives would obviously no longer be a suitable title for the group and so in 1959, Pyrford Little Theatre was born. Today PLT is still a thriving group that includes a diverse membership. Some were born with talent, some achieved it with practice and even some had talent thrust upon them! In other words our membership includes all levels of acting experience, together with those whose interests lie in writing, directing or other backstage skills. We’ll always welcome new members to our friendly and sociable group whether you’re a seasoned thespian or a total beginner. Be not afraid of greatness!

 What We Do

Pyrford Little Theatre stages several productions during the year. Our annual Pantomime in January at the Village Hall attracts many families from the local community of Pyrford who enjoy the traditional slapstick and comedy that this seasonal production draws together. In May, PLT produce the key drama of the year, sometimes in the Village Hall or, more frequently, in Woking’s prestigious theatre, the Rhoda McGaw. It is here that our third production of the year is also staged, our annual entry to the Woking Drama Festival. Depending on available resources such as actors, stage crew and funds, PLT will occasionally put on a play in November. Add our summer and winter parties together with regular social gatherings, Old-Time Music Hall events to raise money for charity, our drama group is a busy association of amateur theatre supporters.
